Midweek Madness

We are back at It again

Due to the fact that I was crazy busy last week I was not able to get both the PurZou game and Midweek Madness uploaded. But have no fear for I am back and we are going to dive into our two opponents
And it is Kansas State
We actually have a combo deal this week as both the Boilermakers and the Wildcats are playing against opponents who are both in the top 25. And K-State will have the pleasure to play against the mountaineer's of West Virginia.

#12 West Virginia
2018 Record: 2-0 (Won against Youngstown State)

The mountaineer's are for the most part have a pretty balanced offense as they are averaging about 385 yds/gm through the air and 203 yds/gm on the ground. Will Grier is the quarterback to watch in this game as he is averaging 380 yds/gm as well as 16.5 yds/comp. with 9 TD's this season and only one INT. Grier also has a 76% pass rate making him extremely deadly. But fortunately for K-State, their pass defense is pretty decent as they are holding opponents to 189 yds/gm which can be the key to stopping Grier and the deadly mountaineer's offense, as this forces them to go on the ground in which they do have success, but as long as the wildcats can contain Grier, this game will be less of a nightmare than usual.

Kansas State
2018 Record: 2-1 (Won against Texas-San Antonio)

K-State is on paper looks to be a more rushing offense as they average about 177 yds/gm on the ground. as well as averaging 179 yds/gm through the air. The quarterback for K-State will be Skylar Thompson who in the terms of passing is not doing so well compared to last season as he's averaging 7 yds/comp to go with 4 TD's and one INT. Outside of him, there is nothing of interest here. The one flaw that I can see the mountaineer's exploiting will be bringing pressure on Thompson as he has a 57% pass rate. As well as the wildcats are loosing the turnover game with 7 over the course of the last three games. And while the Mountaineer's have a stout defense (holding teams to 164.5 yd/gm on passing and 132.5 yds/gm on the ground) with as bad as K-State's offense is these cancel out.

Verdict

This is not going to be a hard one as Virginia has a much more offensive fire power with a deadly quarterback than K-State's mediocre offense, and even if the wildcats get pressure on Grier. The mountaineer's can just go on the ground with success there. So with this in mind. My verdict stands with West Virginia.
