Midweek Madness: Hoops Edition

We have 6 more games left, lets make them count We have exactly 2 weeks left until the regular season ends. So lets go out with style. Northwestern v Minnesota Northwestern doesn't have the offensive firepower like Minnesota as they average 66 PPG, compared to Minnesota's 72 PPG. Both shoot pretty decently with Minnesota having the edge at 44% while NU sits at 41%. on the interior, NU has Dererk Pardon at 58%. For Minnesota, they have Daniel Oturu at 56% and Jordan Murphy at 49%. Both teams struggle from deep as they both average 32%. NU only threat is Vic Law at 34% and Ryan Taylor at 33%. for Minnesota its even worse with only 2 players even cracking 30%, but the Gopher's main threat from deep is Gabe Kalscheur at 42%. Both teams are complete opposites when it comes to turning the ball over, NU forces 12 turnovers a game, and commit 11. While the Gopher's force 11 turnovers a game, but commit 12. #14 Purdue v Illinois

Purdue looks to remain unbeaten at home as they hunt for their 24th B1G title. #14 Purdue v Illinois  Scoring wise, Purdue edges out the Illini with 77 PPG compared to the Illini's 74 PPG. Both teams are even in the way of shooting from the floor, as the Illini are 43% and Purdue is 44%, The go-to guy for Illinois in the paint is Giorgi Bezhanishvili at 53% and Andres Feilz at 46%. For Purdue it's Matt Haarms (62%), Trevion Williams (56%), and Grady Eifert (52%). Both teams are decent from deep, with the Boilers edging the Illini with 36% compared to 34%.  Deep threats for the Illini are Aaron Jordan (41%), and Trent Frazier at 40%. It gets a little complicated for Purdue, the best shooters from 3-pt range for Purdue is Ryan Cline (43%), and Grady Eifert (40%). But I'm also putting Carsen Edwards here at 34%, because when Carsen is feeling it, he is on, but he hasn't lately due to him being in a slump. Purdue is looking to complete the sweep and more when they face Nebraska Purdue is struggling offensively. With their worst offensive performance coming against IU on Tuesday, Purdue is looking to rebound offensively against a improved Nebraska team. Nebraska v #15 Purdue  Nebraska is averaging 72 PPG on offense, with their top scorers being James Palmer (19 PPG), Glynn Watson Jr. (12 PPG), and Isaiah Roby (11 PPG). They are a decent shooting team, averaging around 43% from the floor. Tanner Borchardt (60%), and Isaiah Roby (45%) could be hard to stop if not contained. Their 3-pt shooting is not bad, but its certainly not good as they average 34% from deep. Their threats from deep are Thomas Allen (38%), and Glynn Watson Jr. (36%). New Week, new picks. #1 Duke v #8 UNC Duke is averaging 86 PPG on offense. Their top scorers are R.J. Barrett (23 PPG), Zion Williamson (22 PPG), and Cam Reddish (14 PPG). Their are a really great shooting team, averaging 49% from the floor. They have Zion (68%), and Marques Bolden (58%) who are unstoppable in the paint. Duke for how great their team is, struggles from deep, as they only average 31% from deep. The only guys that they have capable of making a shot are Cam Reddish (34%), and Barrett (33%). On defense, they hold teams to 66 PPG all while forcing 16 turnovers while only committing 13. North Carolina is averaging 87 PPG on offense. Their top scorers are Cameron Johnson (16 PPG), Coby White (16 PPG), and Luke Maye (14 PPG). They average 47% from the floor, which is about on par with Duke. Purdue is looking to make it 3 straight in Bloomington  Purdue had an ugly win against Penn St on Saturday, but Purdue will need to fix their problems when the head down south to play against IU. Indiana v #15 Purdue  IU is averaging 71 PPG on offense. Their top scorers are Romeo Langford (17 PPG), and Juwan Morgan (15 PPG). They are a pretty solid shooting team, averaging 47% from the floor, Justin Smith (51%) and Morgan (57%) dominating inside. They don't however, have a strong presence from deep as they average just 32%. Their only "real" threat is Aljami Durham at 41%, and their second best are Morgan and Rob Phinisee, both at 34%. Purdue 8 game streak is now over, but Purdue faces Penn St. again but this time... in Mackey. #12 Purdue v Penn St. Purdue is averaging 78 PPG on offense. Their top scorers are Carsen Edwards (25 PPG), and Ryan Cline (13 PPG). The Boilermakers are a good shooting team, averaging 45% from the floor, with Matt Haarms (61% FG), and Trevion Williams (60%) dominating inside. I like doing triple headers, So let's do some more I really enjoyed the triple header post last leek, So from here on out, I will keep doing it. #18 Kansas St. v #23 Iowa St. K-State is averaging 66 PPG on offense, They top scorers are Barry Brown (15 PPG), Dean Wade (14 PPG), Xavier Sneed, and Kamau Stokes each at 10 PPG. They are a decent shooting team from the floor, averaging 43% a game. Their top shooters are going to be Dean Wade at 51% and Makol Mawien at 50%. But the Wildcats struggle finding any shots from deep as they average only 33%. Their best deep threat guy is Wade who is averaging 44% with Stokes coming at a distant second with 35%. On defense, they hold teams to just 59 PPG, while forcing 15 turnovers and committing 12. The Cyclones are averaging 79 PPG on offense. Their top scorers are Marial Shayok (19 PPG), Michael Johnson and Talen Horton-Tucker both at 12 PPG, and Nick Weiler-Barbb (10 PPG). They are a lot better shooting team than Kansas St. at 48%

Purdue heads on the road to face its final challenge of the season. #24 Maryland v #12 Purdue  Maryland is averaging 74 PPG on offense. Their top scorers are Anthony Cowan (16 PPG), Bruno Fernando (15 PPG), and Jalen Smith (12 PPG). Maryland is a good shooting team from the floor as they average 46% with Fernando (66%) and Smith (50%) being to go to guys in the paint. Their decent from deep, averaging 37%. But their only deep threat is Eric Ayala at 48%. On defense, they hold teams to 65 PPG, and they force 10 turnovers a game while committing 13. Purdue is averaging 79 PPG on offense. Our top scorers are Carsen Edwards (25 PPG), and Ryan Cline (13 PPG). we are on par with the Terrapins shooting wise from the floor (46%), but have Matt Haarms (64%), and Trevion Williams (59%), and Grady Eifert (52%). who can muscle their way to the basket and score. Purdue had a 5 day break which should be plenty of time to heal up and rest before playing Nebraska. #15 Purdue v Nebraska Purdue is averaging 79 PPG on offense. Their top scorers are Carsen Edwards (24 PPG), and Ryan Cline (13 PPG). With Purdue playing only one game this week, there was an open spot available, which mean we have ourselves a triple header. #10 Marquette v St. John's  Marquette is averaging 79 PPG on offense. Their Leading scorers are Markus Howard (25 PPG), Sam Hauser (15 PPG), and Joey Hauser (11 PPG). They are a really good shooting team, going 46% from the floor. The players to watch are Theo John (59%), and the Hauser brothers (49% and 48%). They have three guys who are dangerous from deep, those being Joey Hauser (48%), Sam Hauser (41%), and Howard at 43% from deep. On the defensive end, the hold teams to 69 PPG and forcing 12 turnovers a game while they force 14 turnovers a game. St. John is averaging 81 PPG on offense.
