Midweek Madness: SEC Takeover
It's SEC time
We have two SEC teams taking over midweek madness this week. Just in time for the SEC/Big 12 Challenge.
Georgia v Texas
Georgia's offense is averaging 75 PPG. Their top scorers are Rayshaun Hammonds (13 PPG), Nicolas Claxton (12 PPG), Derek Ogbeide, and Tyree Crump (10 PPG). The Bulldogs shoot very well as a team overall with Hammonds (50% FG), and Ogbeide (53%) being the better ones. Georgia has two deep threats from 3, Hammonds, and Crump (39%). On defense they hold teams to 73 PPG as well as forcing 11 turnovers per game while committing 16 turnovers per game.
Texas is averaging 71 PPG on offense. Their top scorers are Kerwin Roach Jr. (14 PPG), Matt Coleman, Dylan Osetkowski, and Jaxson Hayes (10 PPG). Their shooting from the floor can be better, but a force to be reckoned with in the paint will be Hayes (75% FG). The Longhorns have 3 guys who can be a threat from deep, Jase Febres (37%), Coleman, and Kerwin Roach Jr. (34%). Texas on the defensive end is holding teams to 65 PPG, while forcing 13 turnovers a game compared to the 11 they commit.
Jaxson Hayes might make things tough for the bulldogs in the perimeter, and with the amount of turnovers that Georgia commits, I can see the Longhorns taking advantage and turning those into points. And I think with Texas's 3 point shooting which is not as good compared to Georgia's might be enough to lift the Longhorns for the win on the road. Texas
#14 Texas Tech v Arkansas
Texas Tech's offense is averaging 70 PPG. Their top scorers are Jarrett Culver (19 PPG), Matt Monney, and Davide Moretti (10 PPG). They shoot pretty well overall from the floor with the exception of Culver (53% FG) and Tariq Owens (54% FG). The Raiders have two guys who can be threats from deep, those being Kyler Edwards (43%) and Davide Moretti (39%). On defense they hold teams 56 PPG, while forcing 16 turnovers a game compared to the 13 they commit.
Arkansas who is coming off of an impressive win against Mizzou, is averaging 79 PPG, Their top scorers are Daniel Gafford (16 PPG), Isaiah Joe (15 PPG), and Mason Jones (14 PPG). The Razorbacks shoot pretty decent from the floor, with their main threat being Gafford at 65% from the floor. Arkansas doesn't have a real presence from deep with Isaiah Joe being their main threat at 45% and Mason Jones second at 35%. On defense, the Razorbacks hold teams to 73 PPG, while forcing 16 turnovers a game compared to the 14 they commit.
The Red Raiders do not have a great offense and even at time when the offense has stalled, their defense has not done them any favors. But this is still a Tech team that poses some threats on offense as the Razorbacks struggle from deep and with the Raiders stiff, stiff defense. This will be a long day for Arkansas. Texas Tech
