Purdue @ #6 Michigan St.
Purdue continues its B1G slate with a tough road game against MSU
Purdue is starting to come alive after their win against Iowa last week. But Purdue now travels to hostile territory as it goes up against the #6 Spartans.
Purdue v #6 MSU
The first thing that I want to point out is that MSU's third leading scorer Joshua Langford will be sitting out again as he is suffering from an ankle injury. But that wont matter to this MSU team. This Izzo squad is averaging 87 PPG. As well as have 3 guys that are averaging 15+PPG. They are dangerous from everywhere on the court as they average 51% from the floor with 6 guys averaging 40% or better. The two guys who are going to be dangerous for this Purdue squad is Nick Ward (66% FG) and Xavier Tillman (70% FG). Purdue will need to do their best to keep these guys in check. But it doesn't get better from there. They have 4 guys shooting 40 or better behind the arch. Their top 3 shooters from behind the arch are Cassius Winston (45%), Xavier Tillman (50%), and Matt McQuaid (44%). They are also a much better ball handling team than we are averaging 21 assist per game. But there is one flaw to this team, they are turnover prone as they average 13 TO per game compared to our 11. And they force only 10 per game.
Purdue's offense is averaging 79 PPG with 2 guys averaging 10+ points per game. We dont have much of a shooting threat behind the arch as we average 37% from out there. The players that can be deep threats are Carsen Edwards (39%), Ryan Cline (38%) and Aaron Wheeler (41%). What is something for Purdue coming into this game is our bench. Against Iowa, our we had 39 bench points. If Purdue can have a game in which the bench can put up numbers like 35 or 40, we may have a chance. We can also capitalize off of MSU's turnovers as we force 14 TO per game.
I do not see this going in the favor of the Boilers, as MSU just looks dangerous as they can beat you on both sides of the ball. And while Purdue has a chance due to how MSU played against Ohio St as OSU tied the game 6 times during the second half, and on paper we are very similar to OSU. I don't see the Boilermakers coming out here with a win. Michigan St.
