#12 Purdue v Penn St
The Boilermakers look to rebound against a tough Penn St. team at Mackey.
Purdue 8 game streak is now over, but Purdue faces Penn St. again but this time... in Mackey.
#12 Purdue v Penn St.
Purdue is averaging 78 PPG on offense. Their top scorers are Carsen Edwards (25 PPG), and Ryan Cline (13 PPG). The Boilermakers are a good shooting team, averaging 45% from the floor, with Matt Haarms (61% FG), and Trevion Williams (60%) dominating inside. Purdue can also shoot the deep ball as well, averaging 37%. Threats from deep include: Cline (44%), Eifert (40%), and Edwards (36%). On defense, they are holding teams to 68 PPG, while forcing 13 turnovers and only committing 10.
Penn St. is averaging 68 PPG on offense. And their top scorers are Lamar Stevens (19 PPG), Rasir Bolton (12 PPG), and Josh Reaves (10 PPG). The Nittany Lions are not doing to bad from the floor as they average 41%, with Mike Watkins (55%) being the only dominant inside threat. If there is one weakness that this team has, its 3-point shooting, Penn St. is averaging just 32% from deep, with their threats being Myles Dread (38%), and Rasir Bolton (36%). On defense, the Lions hold teams to 69 PPG, while forcing 14 turnovers and are committing 12 a game.
This will be a close one for sure. If not, then Penn St. will not go down without a fight. This is a team that has always played us close period, and I'm starting to think, that their 41 free throw attempts was a flux as they only make 19 a game, and make about 67% of them. Purdue is coming off of a reality checking loss, while Penn St is coming off one of their biggest upsets this season. While the Boilermakers will not look over the Nittany Lions, they will however, look to correct the shooting problem that plagued them against the Terrapins on Tuesday. And while both teams don't turn the ball over, Purdue can be a serious outside threat when shots are falling, and can bully you in the paint with the Haarms and Trevion duo while Penn St. doesn't bring the offensive fire power that the Boilermakers have. I say that this might be a borderline blowout win, but Penn St. will keep it close. Purdue
