Midweek Madness: Hoops Edition

We have 6 more games left, lets make them count

We have exactly 2 weeks left until the regular season ends. So lets go out with style.

Northwestern v Minnesota

Northwestern doesn't have the offensive firepower like Minnesota as they average 66 PPG, compared to Minnesota's 72 PPG. Both shoot pretty decently with Minnesota having the edge at 44% while NU sits at 41%. on the interior, NU has Dererk Pardon at 58%. For Minnesota, they have Daniel Oturu at 56% and Jordan Murphy at 49%. Both teams struggle from deep as they both average 32%. NU only threat is Vic Law at 34% and Ryan Taylor at 33%. for Minnesota its even worse with only 2 players even cracking 30%, but the Gopher's main threat from deep is Gabe Kalscheur at 42%. Both teams are complete opposites when it comes to turning the ball over, NU forces 12 turnovers a game, and commit 11. While the Gopher's force 11 turnovers a game, but commit 12. The major separation that these two teams have is points, Minnesota has 4 guys who are averaging double digit points a game (Jordan Murphy 15, Amir Coffey 15, Daniel Oturu 11, and Gabe Kalscheur 11), while NU has 3 (Vic Law 16, Dererk Pardon 14, and Ryan Taylor 11).

This should be a close game, as both teams are rather even, Both teams are good handling the ball so a couple of turnovers here and there is not going to make or break this game, But what will is scoring. Minnesota has a lot of guys who can score and can score well, Oturu and Murphy can be bullies inside the paint. and the Gophers ability to grab offensive boards will give them the chance to get second chances when the shots aren't falling. Minnesota

Villanova v #10 Marquette

Villanova and Marquette are fairly even when it comes to offensive production. Marquette averages 79 PPG while Nova averages 75 PPG. both teams are fairly consistent with shooting, with Nova at 44% and Marquette at 47% Marquette will bring a lot of pressure inside as they have Theo John at 61%, Sam Hauser at 48%, John Hauser and Sacar Anim both at 46%. Nova has Dhamir Roundtree at 67% and Eric Paschall at 46%. Nova struggle from deep as they average 35%, which is not bad, but compared to Marquette who is averaging 40%. Nova has 4 guys all averaging 37% from deep (Phil Booth, Eric Pashall, Collin Gillespie, and Saddiq Bey). Marquette deep threats are Markus Howard at 44%, Sam Hauser at 41%, John Hauser at 45%, and Sacar Anim at 39%. Nova handles the ball well, forcing 12 turnovers and committing 11, while Marquette forces 12 turnover a game while committing 13. Both teams have 3 guys that are averaging double figures. For Nova it is Phil Booth 18, Eric Paschall 17, and Collin Gillespie 11. And for Marquette, it is Markus Howard 25, Sam Hauser 15, and Joey Hauser 10.

Both teams boast power offenses that can score on any given possession. Marquette just edges out Nova due to their consistent shooting and offensive production, Now I do think that Marquette's turnover issues, might lead to some point for Nova, but overall Marquette just edges out Nova on this one, and I wouldn't be surprised if this game is a close, high scoring affair.
