Midweek Madness

What a wild week 8

There were some really good games last week, can we see similar results for week 9?

UNC v Duke

UNC averages 275 yards through the air as well as 161 yards on the ground. They have a decent pass rush, allowing 215 yards through the air, but they don't have a great run defense, as they hold teams to 174 yards on the ground. Duke on the other hand doesn't have a too stellar offense, averaging under 200 in the passing game and around 175 yards on the ground. The have a good run defense, holding teams to 130 yards on the ground. But they hold teams to just over 200 through the air. I have the Tar Heels winning this one. UNC has more production on offense compared to Duke, and Duke is prone to turning the ball over. UNC

Colorado v USC

Colorado is averaging over 250 yards in the passing game and 154 yards on the ground. The one glaring weakness for the Buffaloes is in the passing game, as they allow 316 yards a game, but hold teams to 167 yards on the ground so that's an improvement. The Trojans average 280 yards through the air. But while they average over 150 yards rushing, injuries has completely taken out their entire run game, so don't expect the run game to be stellar. On the defensive side of the ball, the Trojans hold teams to 227 through the air and 190 on the ground. The 316 yards concerns me, which is why I'm going to pick USC here. Not only that, but they also have what I think a better offense and a slightly better defense. USC

MSU v #6 Penn St

Michigan State is averaging 240 yards through the air while averaging 118 yards on the ground. on defense the hold teams to 197 yards through the air and 118 yards on the ground. Penn state on the other hand is averaging 260 yards passing and 180 yards on the ground. They have a decent pass defense at 216 yards a game, but they have a stifling run defense, holding teams to just 66 yards on the ground. While this is a road game for Penn St, I have them winning this one. Michigan St, just hasn't been that impressive this year. Penn St.

#17 Minnesota v Maryland

The Gophers are 232 yards through the air, and close to 190 yards on the ground. On defense, their holding teams to 171 yards through the air, and 122 yards on the ground respectively. Good news for the Terrapins is that Josh Jackson is back, the bad news is that they are going to get shredded through the air as Maryland is holding teams to 290 yards through the air. This is a very good Minnesota team against a bad Maryland team. Minnesota
